As a prelude to the Bathukamma Festival, the students of KENNEDY HIGH the global school celebrated Bathukamma Sambaralu with full glee on Saturday, 24 September 2022 amid much pomp and gaiety.
The Bathukamma festival represents the cultural spirit of Telangana that has medieval origins. The word itself means “Mother Goddess come alive”. It is symbolically presented by a beautiful flower stack that consists of mostly medicinal flowers.
To celebrate this beautiful festival of Telangana, students wore traditional attire and an air of festivity prevailed in the campus. An artistic display of flowers, also called Bathukamma adorned the centre stage.
Chairman Sri. S. Jamala Reddy graced the occasion along with Principal Ms. Rajyalaxmi Bhat. The importance of celebrating this festival was explained through various songs and dances presented by the students. The cultural significance of various flowers, and the folklore behind this festival was narrated in the form of drama. The children danced with high energy and enthusiasm to the songs played by their teachers. The teachers too joined in dancing to Bathukamma songs, ending the celebration with joyful hearts and festive wishes for the oncoming Dussehra.
